20TH NEW DELHI WORLD BOOK FAIR TO BE HELD FROM 25 FEBRUARY TO 4 MARCH 2012 AT PRAGATI MADIAN, NEW DELHI

 

    The National Book Trust India established in 1957 for the promotion of books and to inculcate book culture in India, organizes book fairs/festivals at local, regional and national levels and a biennial New Delhi World Book Fair. The New Delhi World Book Fair is the biggest book fair in the Afro-Asian Region and attracts exhibitions both from India and abroad.

    Delhi is one of the few cities of the world that can boast of beign both ancient and modern. A cultural mosaic and a confluence of different religions, it is also an ever-expanding modern city. There are many places of historical interest in and around Delhi, the capital of India, is also the nerve-centre of Indian publishing. The publishing scenario in contemporary India is conceptually exciting and linguistically diverse. India is perhaps the only country in the world which publishes books in approximately 40 languages. It ranks third in the publication of English books, immediately after USA and the UK. More than 70,000 new titles are published every year out of which more thyan 20,000 are in the English language.
   
    The New Delhi Book Fair combines copyright trade, book trade, cultural activities, exhibitions and displays, information exchanges and industrial communications. The 19th New Delhi World Book Fair was organized by National Book Trust (NBT) from 30 January to 7 February 2010 with an exhibition area of 42,000 square meters. The Fair had over 2400 stalls for 1200 exhibitors from 18 countries. The New Delhi World Book Fair is creating a platform for copyright trade, cultural exchanges and trade promotion and presentations by exhibitors and cultural organizations both at home and abroad.

    The National Book Trust is pleased to announce that the 20th New Delhi World Book Fair will be held from 25 February to 4 March 2012 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.

Rents for foreign participants would be:

(i)  SAARC Countries: Stand of 1 mtr. US$ 250 and Stall of 9 sq. mtr. US$ 1,000 and
(ii) Other countries : Stand of 1 mtr US$ 800 and Stall of 9 sq. mtr US$ 2200.

Venue: Hall Nos. 1 to 14 Pragati Maidan,Mathura Road, New Delhi (India);

Duration: from 25 February 2012 to 4th March 2012; Time: Daily 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.;

Inauguration: Saturday 25 February 2012 at 11 a.m. at Hamsadhwani Theatre Pragati Maidan, New Delhi;
